1983年毕业于浙江大学医学院（原浙江医科大学），曾赴德国、美国等国留学。从事妇产科临床、教学及科研工作三十余年，以妇科肿瘤为主要研究方向。是浙江省有突出贡献中青年专家，澳大利亚西澳大学“Raine杰出访问教授”。曾获浙江省优秀教师、浙江大学首届教学名师奖、“浙江省优秀院长”等称号。主持或参加国家、省部级科研项目数50余项；曾获国家科技进步奖二等奖2项，中华医学奖一等奖和教育部科学技术奖一等奖、二等奖各1项；国家发明专利2项。发表学术论著300余篇，其中SCI源期刊论文100余篇。

现任国家重点(培育)学科和浙江省重点学科－妇产科学学科带头人，国家临床重点专科－妇科学科带头人，浙江省女性生殖健康研究重点实验室主任，浙江省宫颈疾病诊治中心主任，国家级精品课程负责人。是中华医学会妇产科学分会副主任委员，中华医学会妇科肿瘤学分会主任委员等。担任人民卫生出版社国家规划教材《妇产科学》专升本教材（第一、第二版）主编、5年制教材（第八、九版）第一主编、长学制教材编者，是中华医学杂志英文版、中华医学杂志、中华妇产科杂志等10余种杂志的编委。
